Este mes de Agosto se lanza al mercado la nueva y esperada colección de Tito Puente—The Complete 78’s Vol.1. Este primer volumen, en una serie de cuatro discos doubles, cuenta con sencillos que grabo Tito Puente para la disquera Tico durante la decada de los ańos 1950's. Los discos originalmente fueron distribuidos en formato conocido como “78” (setenta y ochos) llamados así puesto que corrían a la velocidad de 78 vueltas por cada minuto. Durante su estimable y larga carrera, Tito Puente llevo a grabar cerca de 160 discos “78”, para la disquera Tico (la cual fue adquirida por La Fania a mediados de los ańos 70.)Todos los discos “78” incluían dos lados de música, y fueron el formato original de los éxitos de Tito Puente. Disponible desde el 12 de Agosto, The Complte 78’s Vol. 1. es definitivamente una de las producciones más esperadas del ańo por los fanáticos de La Fania. El álbum fue producido por Joe Conzo—amigo intimo de Tito Puente y reconocido experto de música Latina. The Complete 78s Vol. 1

August marks the long awaited release of the first volume of Tito Puente’s 78’s: The Complete collection. These fabouls singles were originally pressed as vinyl disc that ran at 78 revolutions per minute (rpm’s), starting in 1949 Tito Puente recorded and released about 160 78-rpm, each recording contained 2- sides full of Puente’s new and energetic mambo explorations.

Available on August 12, Tito Puente: The Complete 78’s is one of the landmark Fania albums for 2008. Many of these recording have never been available on LP or CD formats until now and have been compiled and sequenced from the original Tico catalogue. The music showcases the true genius of Puente, documenting his transition from Conjunto bandleader to big band arranger, composer, conductor and creator of a sound he popularized throughout the world. A “long in the works” production, The Complete 78’s was lovingly produced, by non other than, Tito Puente’s longtime friend, Joe Conzo, a man with an unparallel encyclopedic musical knowledge.
