NEW DISC OF “LA PEGATINA”

The next album of La Pegatina, called “Via Mandarina” will be released on the 23rd of February

Via Mandarina represents a huge evolution on all levels of the band since their 2007 debut album “Al Carrer!”: their voice has become wider spread and their experience and taste for things well done have grown. Two new instruments, the trumpet and the accordion, have found their way into the band adding equally sadness and happiness to their music.

On their first album, artists such as Manu Chao, Gambeat and Che Sudaka collaborated. On the second album feature D’Callaos, El Puchero del Hortelano and the coproduccion with Meninos de Rua Project from Sao Paulo in Brazil , more specifically with Grupo Eureca de Percussao de Campinas. Albert Costa from Always Drinking Marching Band and Diego Castro from La Limoncello also collaborated with the band.

Via Mandarina is a new combination of exciting music that gives you the urge to go wild on the dance floor! Themselves like to refer to it as urban rumba although others call it punk accompanied by a flamenco cajon and a Spanish guitar! There are 14 new songs on the album sung in Catalan, Spanish, Galician and Portuguese. In these songs we will recognise an adaptation from a successful song from Spanish singer Chico Ocaña and from another mythic group from Granada called Tatamka.

The album has been produced by La Pegatina, recorded in the studio La Atlantida ( Barcelona ) by Mario Patino and mastered by Yves Roussel. Luis “LaPrisaMata” did the graphic designs.

The band edited, produced and distributed the first album, “Al Carrer!” by itself. Over 4,500 copies were sold and over 180,000 were downloaded. All that work saw itself paid off thanks to the 2008 “Conxi Tour” which counted 80 concerts with the end of tour concert being a complete success in the Apolo concert Hall in Barcelona , sold out 10 days before the gig itself. No other group has managed such a thing without having a record label. This self-made album captured everyone thanks to the vitality of the project and of the music.

Nouveau disque de LA PEGATINA

Le 23 février prochain verra la sortie du second disque de La Pegatina: “Via Mandarina”.

Le nouvel album “Via Mandarina” est le fruit d'une grande évolution à tous les niveaux depuis la sortie officiel de leur premier disque, “Al Carrer!” en 2007. Ils ont pris de l'assurance en ce qui concerne la musique, l'expérience scénique et bien entendu le goût pour les choses bien faites. De plus, ils ont incorporé au groupe deux nouveaux musiciens, plus précisément un accordéoniste et un trompettiste, qui comme caractéristique commune ont le pouvoir de créer des mélodies festives et joyeuses.

Le premier disque qui a vu la participation d'artistes tel que Manu Chao, Gambeat ou Che Sudaka a été une expérience inoubliable, c'est pourquoi le second album devait avoir des collaborations du même acabit, tel que D'callaos, El Puchero del Hortelano, la co-production Brésilienne Projecte Meninos de Rua de São Paulo et également le groupe Brésilen Eureca de Percussão de Campinas. C'est sans oublier la participation active de musiciens barcelonais tel que Albert Costa de Always Drinking Marching Band et Diego Castro de La Limoncello.

“Via Mandarina” est une combinaison de fraicheur et de musique de rue facile à danser, à travers du style musical nommé «Rumba Urbana» (certains disent qu'il s'agit de punk joué avec une guitare acoustique). Le disque est composé de 14 morceaux chantés en catalan, espagnol, galicien et portugais. Des chansons parmi lesquels nous pouvons retrouver une adaptation d'un morceau de Chico Ocaña et un autre du groupe originaire de Grenade, Tatamka.

Le disque a été produit par La Pegatina, enregistré au studio Atlántida (Barcelone) par Mario Patiño et masterisé par Yves Roussel.

Le design graphique du disque a été réalisé par Lluis LaPrisaMata.

L'album antérieur, «Al Carrer!!!» (2007) a été autoédité, autoproduit et auto distribué. Il s'est vendu pas moins de 4 500 copies et il a été téléchargé plus de 180 000 fois. Tous ces efforts ont été récompensé notamment par la tournée réalisée (Conxi Tour 2008) qui additionne un total de 80 concerts et un remarquable final de tournée à la salle Apolo de Barcelone avec toutes les entrées vendues 10 jours avant. Le groupe a réussi à faire que son histoire puisse fonctionner sans l'aide d'une maison de disque derrière, un self-made qui a captivé tout le monde grâce à la fraîcheur du projet et de sa musique.
