Marta Kubišová’s last single with the Orchestr Golden Kids before her 20 years long ban was already pressed in summer 1970. With only six singles released between 1965 and 1966, Peru’s Los Saicos created a raw, wild and visceral sound, the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the garage rock that was coming out of the US North West at the same time. The pinnacle of Spanish prog rock, “Ciclos” was also the farewell record by Los Canarios. Released in 1974, it’s an astounding conceptual album based on Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” which incorporates synthesizers, mellotrons, vibraphone, electric guitars, a soprano and a classical choir.
