Victor Rice - Montreal Ska Fest - Roots Rock Rebel Hello All! I've just made my way to Montreal, Quebec, for the second year in a row - this time to play my music at the Montreal Ska Festival with a band of young lions and old pros. It's been 5 years since I've played my own tunes live and am happy to report, the band is crack. We call them the Montreal7: Mike G. on drums, Pat Mclelland on keys, Chris Raz on guitar, Marco Lapenna also on guitar, Josh Fuhrman on tenor sax, Patrick Taylor on trombone and Graeme Sylvia on Alto sax. Phil Caouette will stand in on bass for a couple so i can play melodica. Thanks, Bassie! We'll also have guest singers Lorraine Muller and Danny Rebel to lead us in song. The amount of bands, experience and history represented by the M7 is too vast for me to deal with... The show will be recorded! This year marks the MSF's 4th anniversary and will span four days in three venues, not including workshops and secret events. Joining me on "New York Night", Friday Oct 12 at Le Petit Campus are my old mates The Rudie Crew, young heavyweights The Forthrights and my longtime fellow musician and associate, Jayson "Agent Jay" Nugent AKA Crazy Baldhead, spinning choice vinyls. After party (same venue, how convenient!) is hosted by Toronto's Sound One. Guaranteed Nighter! I'll also be returning to Aaron Maiden's weekly show on CKUT, Roots Rock Rebel this Wednesday night Oct 10. I'm hoping to talk about and share tracks from Pitshu, Angolan singer living in Brasil. We've produced a full-length CD that will be the first in Total Running Time's catalogue. I hope to see some of you on Friday, but for most of you, check the links and youtube afterward for archives of the events.... Happy Thanksgiving, Canada - great to be back! V MSF_Flyer
