This LP features Jackie Mittoo in 1969 at the height of his powers, knocking you out with 12 soulful, funky tracks of raw Reggae and Ska. If you dig organ grooves, this LP is TRULY A MUST!
Jackie Opel - Cry Me a River b/w Eternal Love 7" Single (Jamaican Import) Jackie Opel is a legend in Jamaican music. His work at Studio 1 and other Jamaican labels in the early 1960's set the standard for passionate, soulful Ska vocal deliveries on tense, high-energy instrumental tracks. These tunes are actually more like the American-style Soul and R&B of the time, in the Sam Cooke and Otis Redding style. They do have a distinctive Jamaican sound, and they're both really beautiful songs. Great record!
